Primary training
We know that skilled and knowledgeable teachers have the most impact on pupils’ progress (see findings from the Education Policy Institute) and that “engagement in reading is strongly correlated with reading performance and is a mediator of gender or socio-economic status” (OECD, 2021). Our aim is to drive an improved reading culture and improve reading, writing and speaking outcomes by providing teachers with a toolkit of strategies which includes metacognition, book talk and engagement with quality texts.
Benefits of our primary CPD:
- Evidence based with an emphasis on the practical application of research in the classroom
- Delivered by experts who encourage and facilitate professional collaboration
- Aligned with research from the Education Endowment Foundation
We work in partnership with local authority school improvement teams, local education partnerships, research schools, English hub schools, teaching hub schools, multi-academy trusts, initial teacher education providers and the Department for Education. You can also book onto a course directly with us.
Online training
We welcome requests from groups of schools. Many of the schools that we work with choose to collaborate with other schools either in their Trust, or local area to reduce training costs and optimise shared learning opportunities.
We recommend a group size of up to 12 participants per session, in order to maximise the opportunity for interaction and discussion. However, larger groups can be accommodated. Dates will be mutually agreed and prices quoted on the course descriptions refer to a group rate.
You can also visit our events page to see upcoming dates for ticketed training.
- Engage with research and develop sustainable strategies to embed a culture of reading in your school and classroom.
