Autonet Insurance Group is supporting the Stoke Reads campaign with a competition for schools in Stoke-on-Trent, in partnership with the City Learning Trust.

To celebrate Stoke-on-Trent’s City of Culture 2021 bid, pupils aged 5 to 13 are challenged to write a short story set in the Potteries. There are two age categories:

  • Age 5 to 9: up to 500 words
  • Age 10 to 13: up to 1,000 words
Exciting prizes are up for grabs, including £25 worth of book tokens for the winning pupil in each age category, and £100 worth of book tokens for their schools.

Schools are encouraged to register with Autonet to take part – teachers will then receive everything they need to enter their pupils’ stories, including a poster with details of the competition, resources and frequently asked questions. The competition closes on Friday 20 October 2017.

The Stoke Reads campaign from the National Literacy Trust and Stoke-on-Trent City Council promotes reading across the city and aims to boost literacy levels. Autonet has pledged to support the campaign and is also encouraging employees to donate books for pupils.

To get involved in the competition, teachers should email donna.sturge@autonetinsurance.co.uk.
