We partnered with the Stoke Business Improvement District to host an exciting competition in Stoke-on-Trent.
Primary schools across the city were invited to design our national Christmas card. We received over 500 fantastic designs, capturing the creative spirit of young artists in Stoke.
12 designs were shortlisted and bestselling author and illustrator Nick Sharratt was delighted to judge the competition and choose the overall entry:
I’ve really enjoyed judging the Stoke Reads Christmas card competition. I’ve been very impressed by the quality and creativity of the children’s designs. I love Seren’s wonderful reindeer design. The graphic quality of the mountain against the black sky is tremendous and the reindeer’s smile is so charming - it’s going to make the most fantastic card. I hope the competition inspires even more children in Stoke-on-Trent to pick up their pens and pencils and get creative.

These 12 winning designs all received a stocking full of high quality books for their school, thanks to HarperCollins, and in February Nick Sharratt will visit Sandon Primary School, home to six year old winner Seren Daly. Seren's family will also receive a family ticket to Alton Towers, courtesy of the extremely generous support of Stoke BID.
The shortlisted designs are on display throughout December in the intu Potteries shopping centre on giant canvasses, forming part of a special Christmas story trail.
You can see all the designs here.
