National Poetry Day competition for Peterborough children
Peterborough Reads is celebrating National Poetry Day 2022 on 6 October with a competition for primary school pupils from Peterborough.
We are asking children aged 4 to 11 to write a poem based on this year's theme for National Poetry Day – the environment.
How to enter
All work should be the children’s own and parental permission is needed for all submissions. This competition is for Peterborough residents only.
Send your poems with your name, email address and Peterborough postcode to emma.morton@literacytrust.org.uk.
The closing date for entries is 10 October 2022, with the winner announced on 14 October 2022.
Eligible entries will be judged by a panel consisting of Peterborough Reads Project Officer Emma Morton, and Literacy Champions Suzanne Tuck and Olivia Dedman.
What are the prizes?
The winner will receive a poetry book bundle and their poem will be featured on the Peterborough Reads Facebook page to be enjoyed by all.
What resources are available?
Our Words for Life activities include tips for how to write your first poem and an exploration of different forms of poem with Matt Windle.
