Doncaster Reading Miles Challenge

14 May 2021

We have teamed up with the Doncaster Children’s University to bring you the ‘Doncaster Reading Miles Challenge’.

Funded by the Doncaster Opportunity Area, the Reading Miles Challenge is an exciting way to encourage children across the town to expand their reading habits and read more for pleasure!

Every time they read, children can make their way along the map, passing familiar Doncaster landmarks and colourful characters as they earn stamps along the way. When they reach the Danum Treasure, children will be awarded with the special certificate to graduate from the Doncaster Children’s University itself.  In addition to this, there are lots of fun crafts and activities for children to take part in, such as designing bookmarks, door hangers and wanted posters. These can all be downloaded below.

Watch out for draw-along sessions with illustrator Phil Sheppard coming after the May half term in which children can learn how to draw some of the monsters, dragons and creatures from the Doncaster map. Make sure you are following our Facebook page to find out more.

Why not share your work with us at www.facebook.com/DoncasterStories or email DoncasterStories@literacytrust.org.uk?
