Three of the elves from the National Literacy Trust in Doncaster have escaped the Literacy Lab in Mexborough, and hiding all over Doncaster. Bonnie, Connie and Ronnie are on the loose, and teasing their whereabouts with “s-elfies” at some of Doncaster’s local landmarks!

The National Literacy Trust in Doncaster will be sharing the elves’ selfies on its Facebook page throughout December, and asking children and families to locate Bonnie, Connie and Ronnie in Donny. Everyone who helps identify their whereabouts will be in with a chance to win a free book - one for each of the 12 locations - just in time for Christmas.

Phil Sheppard, Hub Manager for the National Literacy Trust in Doncaster said, “Bonnie, Connie and Ronnie may be new to Doncaster but they clearly know all about the importance of reading! So much so, they couldn’t wait to get out to explore the city and spread their love of books! As much as we appreciate the support, they’ve got lots of books to wrap for our Christmas book gifting, so we do need them back at the Literacy Lab as soon as possible.”

This December, the local team and its dedicated volunteer Literacy Champions will be hosting a wide variety of activities, events, and giveaways to help children and families in Doncaster discover a love of reading. They'll be sharing information about all of this and more on their Facebook page every day in the run up to Christmas. With 1 in 10 children from Yorkshire and the Humber saying that they don’t own a book at home, it’s the perfect time of year for book gifting.
