We held our annual summer party last night at Hachette UK’s spectacular roof terrace in London. Authors, teachers, partners and supporters of our work came together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our Young Readers Programme.
We were delighted to be joined by authors including Liz Pichon, Charlie Higson, John O'Farrell, Victoria Hislop, Hilary Robinson and our ambassador Miles Jupp who gave a speech about his experiences visiting schools on the Young Readers Programme. Rachel Haig, deputy headteacher at St. Mary Cray Primary Academy in Bromley, also spoke passionately about the transformative effect the programme has had on pupils and staff at the school.
Guests enjoyed panoramic views of London in the sunshine and had the opportunity to choose books from the Young Readers Programme '20 Years of Children's Choices' book list to take home.
The party was also an opportunity to celebrate the efforts of the Hachette UK cycling team, whose incredible London to Paris cycle ride earlier this year raised over £12,000 for our work.
Thank you to all everyone who joined us at the party and to Hachette UK for kindly hosting the event.
