Our partner National Prison Radio launches new Straightline app

12 Oct 2016

The free Straightline app features seven films from people who have spent time in prison, as well as regular National Prison Radio contributor George the Poet.

Each film gives insights into different aspects of life after prison, with topics including rebuilding relationships, working out where to live, how to spend your time, and who to trust.

We worked with National Prison Radio on the Books Unlocked film, which was created as an extension of our current programme of the same name. The film features ex-prisoner, Carl discussing the impact books had on him during his time in prison and following his release. It highlights the power of reading to improve wellbeing.

Our Books Unlocked programme is funded by the Booker Prize Foundation and gives prisoners and young offenders the opportunity to read, discuss and own Man Booker Prize-shortlisted titles. To expand the reach of Books Unlocked, we work with National Prison Radio to serialise Man Booker Prize-shortlisted titles on a daily radio show.

You can view the Books Unlocked video here. iOS users can download the app here, and Android users can download it here.
