Eliyanah Lubanzu is only 8 years old and she has already written her first book, The Super 8 Adventures: The Day The Aliens Invaded, from which she has generously offered to donate 10% of the profits to the National Literacy Trust.
Eliyanah has a real passion for reading and writing and is a Reading Ambassador at her school, so we asked her a bit more about her favourite books, what she likes about writing and any advice for other aspiring young writers.
That’s amazing that you’re a reading ambassador at your school! What’s your favourite book at the moment?
Hmmm I love reading and I could list so many books, it's hard to choose only one but right now I am enjoying School for Stars by Holly and Kelly Willoughby.
What do you like about creative writing?
Whilst writing I can bring to life my characters and express my feelings through stories. It makes me happy to go into my own world of adventures.
Are you writing any other stories at the moment? If so, can you give us a sneak peak?!
Yes! I'm just finishing my latest book in my Super 8 Adventures series and it's called Double Trouble and it's all about the twins Levi and Ameliah's wild birthday adventure. You will need to look out for it, it has been really fun writing this one!
What advice would you give to someone your age who wants to start writing stories but doesn’t know where to start?
You can get ideas and inspiration from books, movies and everyday things that happen in your life! For me it's my big family and the funny things that are always happening in our home or on family trips and holidays. So, stay creative and get it down on paper (not the walls like my little sister!) and as I always say "Even if you are small you can still make a BIG difference."
