Added 07 May 2020 | Updated 19 Feb 21

Words for Work

To support students when many cannot attend their schools and colleges, and while businesses are working from home, we are have put together a checklist of activities and resources suitable for students aged 16+ that you can share for them to complete from home. These resources will help to boost skills and support students in planning next steps.

They include guidance on developing a portfolio of tools to support applications, such as writing a CV, elevator pitch, and cover letter, as well as insights in to preparing for presentations and job interviews.

Top tips on making the most of volunteering opportunities together with an employability checklist will help students understand how they can effectively demonstrate their strengths and skills to potential employers.

Literacy and employability

These resources have been compiled by our Words for Work team, responsible for our flagship literacy and employability programmes that support students to gain the literacy and communication skills they need to reach their potential.
