Celebrating the Coronation

The Coronation of His Majesty The King will be taking place on Saturday 6 May, 2023 in Westminster Abbey. The ceremony, witnessed by members of the royal family, the British public, and visitors from around the globe, will see King Charles III and The Queen Consort crowned in a grand display of pageantry. The Coronation begins a weekend of royal celebrations and bank holiday festivities, bringing friends, families and communities together to celebrate this historic event.

Using our Hot Topic: King's Coronation School Resource

Our hot topic resource is packed with ideas for pupils aged 3 to 14 (Early Years, KS1, KS2 and KS3/Early, First, Second and Third Level) to help you mark the event, weaving literacy learning in to your celebration to help pupils develop key reading, writing, and oracy skills.

Join us on Monday 24 April for a live online draw-along with bestselling, award-winning children’s author and illustrator, Rob Biddulph.

Suitable for ages 7 to 11 (KS2/P4-P7), and inlcuding the opportunity for children to craft their own coronation-inspired illustrations.

The 2023 Children’s Book Celebration

To mark the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort in May, the National Literacy Trust, in partnership with digital bank, Chase, is running a very special 2023 Children’s Book Celebration to crown the top 23 children’s books. We invite all primary-aged pupils from across the UK to vote for their all-time favourite book to create the Chase Coronation Booklist.
