Words for Work: Internships

Lancome internship

The Words for Work Internship programme provides young people from disadvantaged communities the chance to gain insight into the working world. We work together with business partners to allow young people to experience the work environment and build their understanding of work focussed literacy and communication skills.

About the programme

Our Words for Work Internship programme aims to provide young people much needed insight into a variety of career paths, work closely with employees from the business and build an understanding and improved confidence of work focussed literacy and communication skills.

We work with our business partners to create a thorough timetable of activity for the young people that includes insight sessions with different departments within the business, masterclass sessions on different skills and a project for the young people to present back on at the end of their internship.

“It was really informative as I learnt about the different job roles within the marketing industry – this has helped me to have some sort of idea as to what career I want to pursue after university. Working on a presentation helped me to build confidence and develop my research skills. The masterclasses were also extremely valuable as it helped me understand various other sectors within a business.”
