To be given the opportunity to work with the marketing team of a luxury brand like Lancôme at such a young age was a huge accomplishment for me and it was an experience I learnt a lot from.
On the first day of the internship I was filled with nerves and excitement. I met the other intern (who is now one of my good friends), the National Literacy Trust project manager and our Lancôme mentor who provided support and guidance throughout the six weeks.
We took a tour of the Loreal building, and were introduced to the 36 brands within the Loreal conglomerate, which included many successful skincare, perfume and makeup brands such as Cerave, Prada and YSL. It was enriching being able to gain exclusive access and meet the people working behind the scenes to push these brands to the public, some of which I buy myself. I was then introduced to the Lancôme marketing department which is broken into three teams; Public Relations and Brand Engagement, Product, and Brand Activation. I spent time with each team, learning about what they do and completing tasks typical to their team. My time working with the Lancôme marketing team was one to remember. I was given a taste of what working in the marketing industry would look like, and I am even more passionate and excited to pursue this career, and hopefully return to Loreal.
