Families at Queensgate Shopping Centre took part in fun activities and took home free books at a School Readiness event today.
National Literacy Trust staff led fun activities including singing rhymes, storytelling, playing games and making environmental print trails, and offered practical tips on getting your child ready for school, at home. 600 books were given away to families.
Also in attendance were a team from Small Talk, a new initiative to improve the home learning environment for 0-5 year olds. The team delivered fun, interactive events to model short, simple activities that promote positive adult-child communication.
