Celebrating National Bookstart Week in Manchester

01 Jun 2017

Every bunny dance

Manchester Libraries and partners are celebrating National Bookstart Week, which takes place from 5 to 11 June 2017. This year's theme is Let's Explore Outdoors and the chosen book is Everybunny Dance! by Ellie Sandall.

Bookstart is a programme from the Booktrust which reaches every child in England in their first year. Supporting the aims of the Read Manchester campaign, it helps families read together every day and inspire children with a rewarding love of books.

During National Bookstart Week a variety of events are taking place in Manchester.

Nick Sharratt's magical exhibition: Pirates, Pants and Wellyphants is currently on display at Central Library. Children from Manchester schools and nurseries will be visiting the exhibition during National Bookstart Week on 8 June to meet Nick Sharratt and take part in a host of library activities. Copies of the book Everybunny Dance! will be gifted by Nick to the children on the day. Find out more about the exhibition

All visitors to library storytime sessions during the week will also receive their free Everybunny Dance! book.  Some will also receive a special visit from the Bookstart Bear who is travelling around the city to promote reading and sharing stories together.  Find out more about the storytime sessions , which run in all libraries during term-time.
