The New Theatre in Peterborough generously donated over 1,000 free tickets to to local children, to see the fantastic stage show Mr Men and Little Miss.
Children who attended the first show also went home with a free Mr Men or Little Miss book, to enjoy at home the stories they had seen brought to life on stage. The theatre donated the tickets as part of Peterborough Celebrates Reading, a year of activity across the city celebrating books and stories.
Kay Baldock, a teacher from Bishop Creighton Academy, said, “This is a wonderful opportunity for our children. We are promoting the love of literacy and reading for enjoyment in school and being able to bring the children to the theatre to see a real life production of a storybook will have such an impact”
Jack Allen, Marketing Manager at The New Theatre, said, “We are delighted to be supporting the Peterborough Celebrates Reading campaign by doing our bit to raise children’s aspirations to improve their literacy”.
Thank you to Egmont Publishing for generously donating the books.
