Can you and your family find the lost Hastings words?

Local words from Hastings and Sussex are hiding around an outdoor location near you and we need YOU to help hunt them down!

Inspired by The Lost Words Trail, the community Word Hunts are a great way to spend time with your family and community and have fun exploring the great outdoors.

How to take part in your local Word Hunt:

1 – Use the buttons above to download the activity leaflet for your local Word Hunt or collect a free copy from the Health and Wellbeing Hub nearby:

  • St Helen’s Wood Word Hunt - supported by North East Hastings Health and Wellbeing Hub, Education Futures Trust, The Firs, Elphinstone Road, Hastings, TN34 2AX
  • Gensing Gardens Word Hunt - supported by Central St Leonards Health and Wellbeing Hub, Fellowship of St Nicholas, 66 London Road, St. Leonards on Sea, TN37 6AS
  • NOW CLOSED: Church Wood Word Hunt - supported by Hollington Health and Wellbeing Hub, Fellowship of St Nicholas, Robsack Centre, Bodiam Drive, St. Leonards on Sea, TN38 9TW

2 – Head to the Word Hunt location and get hunting! You'll find the words on trees and fences not far from the footpaths.

3 – As you find the local lost words, fill them in on your activity leaflet.

4 – As you find each word, answer the question on the leaflet with your family.

5 – Once you have completed the trail, unscramble the letters you wrote in the small boxes to find the secret seven-letter word and fill it in on the sheet.

6 – You should now have nine words - can you find them all in the wordsearch?

7Fill in your details on the leaflet and hand into the nearby Health and Wellbeing Hub (above). There you have the chance to receive a free book for your child.*
