Talk for learning
This course
The course is a three-hour in-person session designed to facilitate interactive learning and may include all or some of the following:
- Pre and post-course reading or tasks
- Group discussion and participation
- Trialling teaching and learning approaches
- Personal reflection and planning time
Course content
In this three hour session we will:
- Engage with evidence from research to consider effective approaches for speaking and listening in curriculum subjects
- Review the role and purpose of oracy in schools and reflect on different types of talk
- Explore pedagogical strategies to help students talk dialogically with confidence and skill
- Evaluate own provision and practice
Audience
- Subject teachers, whole school literacy leaders.
