This online training involves two 90-minute sessions
Part one: Tuesday 25 February 15:30-17:00
Part two: Tuesday 4 March 15:30-17:00
Course content
- Uses evidence from research and theory to investigate effective literacy strategies for teaching and learning science (physics, chemistry and biology)
- Introduces active reading strategies with science texts
- Develops knowledge and strategies for teaching scientific vocabulary
- Introduces a framework for modelling and planning longer writing questions
Audience
- Secondary subject leaders and practitioners
- Literacy leaders, who may be supporting a subject area
