Who should attend
This course is designed to help teachers understand how curriculum subjects communicate knowledge through literacy, and how they can support students to read, write and communicate effectively in their discipline. It is suitable for leaders and teachers of all subjects, who are new to, or developing their understanding of disciplinary literacy.

What you will gain from attending
In 90-minute session, you will learn about:
- How teaching subject-specific (disciplinary) literacy skills can unlock subject content
- The literacy demands of curriculum subjects and the implications for teaching and learning
- A range of practical classroom strategies to develop disciplinary reading and academic vocabulary
- How language shifts from informal talk to formal writing
- Writing tools to support academic writing in a subject
Preparing for the sessions
To participate fully in a session, you will need a working microphone and camera. Please note, sessions are not recorded.
