Supporting older learners of English as an additional language
About this course
One part: Thursday 5 February 2026 15:30-17:00
Many secondary schools admit EAL learners beyond the age that initial reading has been taught. Some of these students can already read well in another language, others may have had limited previous schooling or literacy teaching and will need considerable support to become fluent readers.
This new, 90-min online course is for literacy leaders, EAL teachers and staff who support pupils with EAL in secondary settings. It introduces the key issues to consider when planning reading provision and teaching support for these older EAL pupils.
Cost
- £70 for a single ticket
- This course can also be booked as a private group session at a cost of £700.
