Acclaimed spoken-word artist and award-winning poet Steven Camden - aka Polarbear – delivers an energetic, interactive workshop, exemplifying his own collaborative practice of using talk as a stimulus for creative writing.

Who should attend

This highly interactive and energetic workshop is delivered by acclaimed spoken-word artist and award-winning poet and writer Steven Camden - aka Polarbear. It is aimed at English teachers, who would like to explore techniques for using collaborative talk to develop students’ confidence and skills to generate ideas to write creatively.

Participants must have a working microphone and camera to participate, will need a pen and notebook and should be prepared for a hands-on, practical and collaborative experience in which they will reflect on their own collaborative writing process, in order to develop students’ creative writing.

In 90-minute session, you will learn about:

  • What is involved in creative writing processes
  • Strategies to develop practical approaches for the teaching of creative writing with students in Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Ideas to embed creative writing processes into regular classroom practice

Preparing for the sessions

To participate fully in a session, you will need a working microphone and camera, notepaper and a pen. Please note, sessions are not recorded.
