About this course

The course is a three-hour in-person session for whole school bookings only. It is designed to facilitate interactive learning and may include all or some of the following:

  • Pre and post-course reading or tasks
  • Group discussion and participation
  • Trialling teaching and learning approaches
  • Personal reflection and planning time

Course content

In this three-hour session we will:

  • Engage with evidence from research to consider effective approaches for speaking and listening in curriculum subjects
  • Review the role and purpose of oracy in schools and reflect on different types of talk
  • Explore pedagogical strategies to help students talk dialogically with confidence and skill
  • Evaluate own provision and practice

Audience

  • Subject teachers, whole school literacy leaders.
