Remembrance Assembly 2026

11 Nov 2026

10:30am - 11:05am

Online

Take part in Remembrance on Wednesday 11 November with our free Remembrance Assembly, bringing your pupils together with others from across the UK for a unique, reflective and engaging experience.

The Remembrance Assembly, created in partnership with the Royal British Legion, will be hosted by a familiar face, along with representatives from the Armed Forces, veterans and those currently serving, using their unique voices to share their own perspectives on Remembrance, and to explore how we all belong in the Remembrance community. Poems from our Poems For Remembrance activity will feature, along with representation of primary and secondary pupils taking part in literacy activities with a focus on Remembrance.

The assembly is suitable for ages 9 to 14 (pupils from Years 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, or P6-7, S1-3).

The event will include the Two-Minute Silence to mark the Armistice.

How to watch:

This year, on 11 November from 10.30 to 11.05, we will be streaming the Remembrance Assembly in a Zoom Webinar and via YouTube Premiere in multiple formats.

Please register using the form below. Joining instructions will be emailed to you. Please check your spam if nothing arrives.

If you are unable to access or register, all videos can be found on the ‘Videos’ section of the National Literacy Trust YouTube channel.

Timings

You can join the event from 10.20, where you will see a countdown. You will see information slides and hear music from 10.25, allowing you to check that you can see and hear correctly, and get any help from your IT department if needed. The event itself will commence at 10:30 with a very special message of welcome. At 11.00, there will be a two-minute silence as part of the Assembly.

Technical and safeguarding information

  • You will not be able to turn cameras or mics on, nor will there be a live chat function for this event.
  • If you cannot hear or see the event, please contact your IT department. The team delivering the online events will let you know if there is a technical issue at our end.

Please note that, if watching from YouTube, you will be able to pause and rewind live content; however, please make sure to press the 'Premiere' button to keep to the scheduled timings.

If you are not sure you can join at 10.30 am, please sign up for access details, and you will be able to access a recording to watch later on that day, or during that week.

A note for those with pupils connected to our Armed Forces:

If you would like guidance on how to support a child/children in your class who have lost a family member through service, Scotty’s Little Soldiers, the charity for bereaved military children, suggest the following:

  • Identify any children in the class that may be impacted by discussions about death and dying, including those who are bereaved or have family members in active service.
  • Where possible, speak with the child(ren) ahead of time to give the option of if they wish to attend and establish what they can do if they feel uncomfortable during the assembly (timeout card to sit with a staff member, self-soothing strategies such as fidget toys, etc).
  • Follow up and check in with vulnerable children after the assembly.
  • Share with parents and carers a summary of the content of the assembly ahead of time.
