About the author

Chitra Soundar is celebrated as a writer and storyteller for children. Born in Chennai, she has written over 60 books, including Pattan’s Pumpkin (illustrated by Frané Lessac) for Otter-Barry Books, and the Nikhil and Jay series, illustrated by Soofiya: Nikhil and Jay Save the Day, Nikhil and Jay – The Star Birthday and Nikhil and Jay – Off to India. The series is inspired by Chitra’s nephews and their real experiences within their dual-heritage family. Chitra divides her time between London and Chennai, India.

About the Nikhil and Jay series, as seen on BBC CBeebies

Chitra Soundar's books feature brothers Nikhil and Jay, two Indian/British dual heritage brothers– and Max the Cat – who love to find out new things, join clubs and make stuff. They enjoy getting involved with lots of things at home and in the community and playing together. A perfect series for early readers.
