This December, the National Literacy Trust in Suffolk is celebrating the stories of pantomime in Haverhill and Stowmarket with a festive trail for local families to enjoy.
Supporting businesses in both towns will be displaying scenes or props from the most beloved pantomime tales in their windows and as they follow the route participants are asked to work out which story they belong to. There is also a literacy challenge that children can complete afterwards, based on their favourite fairytale.
Free trail maps are available to collect from Haverhill Library or Haverhill Arts Centre in Haverhill and Stowmarket Library in Stowmarket throughout December.
The trail can be completed at any time and over several days if necessary. Children who return their maps to one of the three drop-off points before Sunday 31 December will get a small prize.
"From Cinderella’s glass slipper to Dick Whittington’s cat and Aladdin’s lamp – pantomime stories spark imagination, making them great inspiration for families to chat, play and read together this season. We’re excited to return to sprinkle some more Christmas magic through Stowmarket and Haverhill.”
