To celebrate the launch of Get Suffolk Reading we offered all pupils in years 3, 4, 5 and 6 the opportunity to win a stack of books as tall as their teacher, to share with their class. 151cm tall Miss Chillman from Northfield St Nicholas Primary Academy in Lowestoft was selected as the winner and received 118 books.
Ms Chillman, Class Teacher, said: “Thank you so much for running this wonderful competition. Over a hundred new books, will support us as we continue fostering a love of reading, for the children at our school.”
Romillie, Aged 7, said: “Thank you for all the new books, I can’t wait to read them!”
Tyler, Aged 7, said: “I couldn’t believe Ms Chillman was 118 books tall! We had fun counting them!”
Pupils in this age range were also given the chance to redeem a free book as part of the launch. 1,151 children across Suffolk signed up and were able to collect their books from their nearest local library during Libraries Week, between Monday 4 and Sunday 10 October.
If you’d like to get your hands on more free books and win an school author visit from local authors Markoje Henrichs, check out our Stories of Suffolk writing competition, open until the 20 December.
