The National Literacy Trust work in communities across Liverpool to help the city's young children develop their early language and communication.

We believe that literacy is for everyone. This is why we’re working at the heart of the community to empower children and their families with the literacy skills they need to succeed.

Early Words Matter

A child’s earliest years are crucial to their development and life chances.

That's why, with the help of our partners at The Very Group, we're committed to reaching 4,000 children aged 0 to 5 in Liverpool, helping families to support their little ones develop vital early language and communication from the very start.

How to get involved

Become a Literacy Champion volunteer

Literacy Champions are self-led volunteers who are passionate about making a difference to literacy in their community or organisation. We help them to host reading or writing groups and share activities, resources, advice and books across their community.

Are you an early years setting in Liverpool?

We're keen to work alongside early years practitioners to ensure that every little one starts school with the literacy skills they need to thrive.

Are you a local organisation, passionate about your region?

Our work wouldn't be possible without our incredible partner organisations. If you work for an organisation in Liverpool and are interested to support us, we'd love to hear from you!
