The Great Green Read 2025/26

Developed by the National Literacy Trust in Doncaster in partnership with Rotary, the Great Green Read is a year-round programme designed to inspire children to learn, think, and take action on some of the issues that matter most: nature, sustainability, and caring for our planet.

This year we’re excited to launch a brand-new creative writing competition for primary schools: Dear Ed. Pupils will have the unique opportunity to write directly to Ed Miliband MP, sharing their hopes, ideas, and visions for the future of our planet. Winners will receive fantastic prizes for themselves and their school.

Alongside the competition, schools and families can look forward to a line-up of engaging activities, including our virtual launch event for primary schools.

Keep up with all the latest updates and opportunities by following us on Facebook.

More exciting events to be announced soon.
