Resources for teachers
Below you will find a PowerPoint presentation and class worksheet that encourages pupils to consider the structure of their story and take inspiration from other children's books based on water. These have been created by Michaela Mahlberg, Professor of Corpus Linguistics at the University of Birmingham.
Local English teacher Zena Chadwick has put together a selection of ideas to help teachers engage pupils with Water Stories, in the classroom.
Please note, the deadline for the competition has been extended since this video was created. Entries now close on Monday 22 November and winners will be announced in January 2022.
Inspiration for young writers
Bestselling author Sita Brahmachari will lead a judging panel made up of Birmingham role models and writing experts as part of the competition. Below you will find resources she has created to help young writers think about water and find inspiration for their creative writing.
