Supported by Amazon, we have created a fun, interactive storytelling project with novelist, poet and playwright Steven Camden, for pupils aged 11 to 14 (KS3/S1-3). It is based on the theme ‘Reimagine your world’ and is part of our National Storytelling Week activity. Steven Camden’s key stage 3 workshop is designed to inspire a love of writing.
Alongside a week-long series of classroom activities, we are running a free, live storytelling workshop with Steven Camden at 1pm to 1.50pm on Tuesday 4 February 2025. Students will create a story with Steven, actively participating in his story-writing process. The workshop will be a source of inspiration for their own stories and is a crucial part of the week-long storytelling project.
What happens if my class can't attend the live workshop?
If you are unable to attend, a recording of the workshop will be available on YouTube and uploaded to this page.
Key stage 3 classroom resources
- KS3/S1-3 resources will be live on this page from Monday 6 January 2025.
Our classroom resources provide a week-long learning sequence for you to deliver, which supports students to create stories inspired by Steven’s creative process.
You may like to deliver the sessions in tutor time, English lessons, after-school clubs or library sessions: designed as a series of half-hour activities, the learning sequence is adaptable to your school’s needs and capacity.
It is developed with the national curriculum in mind, and the curriculum links can be found at the end of the resource.
We'd love to see your students' writing
At the end of the week’s activities, please submit your students’ work to us for the opportunity to have it published in the National Storytelling Week Anthology and to receive individual feedback from Amazon.
Submission instructions will be live on our website closer to the time.
