About this webinar

As part of our Early Years series for the National Year of Reading, Opening the Door to Reading at Home invites us to rethink what genuine partnership with parents looks like. If parents were truly equal partners in early reading, how might our practice shift? What would change in the way we communicate, involve and empower families? This webinar explores the crucial role practitioners play in shaping those relationships and creating meaningful, shared reading experiences at home.

Meet the speakers

Our keynote speaker, Professor Janet Goodall from Swansea University, will unearth the practical and cultural barriers that parents often face when entering an education setting, and will reimagine parental engagement through the lens of her research.

She will be followed by a fantastic line‑up of speakers: Julie Haywood, Director of Partnership at BookTrust; Kiaran Satti, Deputy Principal at Oasis Community Learning and National Curriculum Lead for Reading; and Laura Heny‑Allain, National Year of Reading Ambassador. Together, they will bring inspiring, relatable and practical strategies for Early Years settings, childminders and schools.
