About the conference
We are thrilled to be bringing the Inclusive Libraries conference to Sheffield this year. The event features an inspiring line up of speakers and facilitators who will share approaches to conversations around ethnicity, race and intersectionality through children’s literature, as well as lots of opportunities for discussion, practice-sharing, connection and community.
Inclusive Libraries conferences respond to a need identified in consultation with teachers and librarians: to develop a deeper understanding of aspects of inclusive provision such as anti-racism; decolonisation; and effective ways to amplify and explore books by writers of colour.
Spaces for teachers and librarians are fully funded with thanks to Arts Council England.*
Taking place in Sheffield and London
The conference will first take place in Sheffield on Thursday 24 September, and then be repeated in London on Wednesday 30 September.

Who should attend the conference?
This conference is designed for colleagues in any role in the public library sector, and teachers and librarians working in primary and secondary school libraries.
*Spaces are fully funded and free of charge, but we request that you inform us in plenty of time if you are unable to attend, as your booking may be taking a place that somebody else wants.
Accessibility
We are keen to make our conference as welcoming as possible. If there is anything you require to make this event more accessible for you (e.g. a quiet place for rest or prayer, mobility assistance, removal of items that cause a severe allergic reaction, support with BSL interpretation), please let us know in the form below.
Notes on The Edge venue:
- The venue is on the first floor, accessible via a lift. Once you are on the first floor the spaces are step-free.
- On-site parking is available, including three blue badge bays (£5 per day). There is also free street parking outside the venue.
- There isn’t a dedicated space for prayer, but we will be closing off one of the workshop spaces during lunch (from 12:50pm) for this purpose.
- There are areas that are quieter that you can use to take space and time away. Please let us know if you would like to use these spaces and we can direct you on the day.
If there is anything else we can do to support your access to this event please let us know.
