Where's Wally Fun Run 2020

The work we do as the National Literacy Trust in Salford is community driven, which means we need as many local businesses and people involved as possible.

Whether you can volunteer your time, work in your local community, fundraise for our work or donate to our mission, we need your help.

  • Salford is the 20th most deprived local area in the country

According to the 2019 Indices of Multiple Deprivation, it also has a higher than average rate of children eligible for free school meals.

  • Only 48.6% of five-year-olds from Salford’s most disadvantaged areas achieved a good level of development in 2023

This is compared to 69.3% of their peers from non-disadvantaged areas.

  • In 2023, just 2 in 5 children in the North West said they enjoyed reading in their free time

This is the lowest level we've recorded in our Annual Literacy Survey in almost 20 years.
