Birmingham's Go All In Book List

Tell us what you're into

For the National Year of Reading this year, we are inviting you to use reading to Go All In on your hobbies and interests.


In Birmingham, we want local residents and groups to submit reading recommendations based on their hobbies and interests. For example, if you're a big fan of football, you might have enjoyed The Breakfast Club Adventures by Marcus Rashford. Or if you're really into K-Pop, you might have liked Idol Gossip by Alexandra Leigh Young. Audiobooks, comics and magazines all count too!

Your recommendations will be published anonymously in an online list so that future readers can find something to read based on their hobbies and interests, recommended by local people. 

To give you some ideas, why not check out the National Year of Reading lists?

You could also try your local library, have a look at the mobile library timetable or visit your school library. Don't be afraid to ask a librarian for help. 

Recommendations can be submitted by anyone aged 8 or above, including adults.

The deadline to recommend is 1 December 2026. 

Guidance for your recommendation

The list is open to all Birmingham residents aged 8+, including adults. We welcome all contributions but please review the guidance pointers below before you submit your story:

  • We encourage you to read something based around your hobby or interest

  • This could be a fiction novel, a non-fiction book, a collection of poetry or stories, or another form of reading.

  • You will be asked to leave a few sentences to tell us why someone else with your interest might like to read your book

  • All recommendations will be published anonymously
