Book packs for Ukraine donations appeal

Ukrainian children are arriving in the UK having faced the terrible suffering of war. But with your support the power of reading and stories can help them settle into their new community and give them the comfort and escapism that reading offers.

How we support Ukrainian children and their families

We have an amazing network of Literacy Hubs across the country. Our hubs work with local community, including Ukrainian charities and organisations to help support Ukrainian children and their families.

Our hub in Birmingham has partnered with refugee welcome campaign Moseley for Ukraine and has donated 500 books.

“We are glad to join with Moseley for Ukraine – a warm, community-led campaign. We can’t undo the horrors of conflict, but we must all do our bit to help everyone feel welcome in Birmingham.”

How can I help the Ukraine appeal?

The right book at the right time can make a world of difference to a child.

Children who are the most engaged with reading are three times more likely to have higher levels of mental wellbeing than children who are the least engaged.

Your Ukraine donation could:

  • support Ukrainian children with their English language skills
  • help young refugees settle into their new community
  • offer emotional support and escapism.
