Mike Church - storyteller

Statement

Mike has worked as a writer and performer for over twenty years, having worked extensively in Wales and the West of England. He has written and published many books including a number of children's picture books with community groups encouraging positive reading habits for parents and children. He has also written volumes of poetry including 'A Wee Bit Of Trouble'.

He is currently Neath/Port Talbot's reading ambassador and worked as part of Michael Sheen's Passion Project in the area. He has also been a reading champion in a number of schools. He has spoken at conferences and in 2016 was selected as one of CBBC's 'Awesome Authors' He has worked extensively in prisons and performed regularly at the Hay in the Parc Festival (HMP Parc Prison, Bridgend) and will appear at the Cardiff Children's Literature Festival in 2017. Mike is a library campaigner and is passionate about children and young people reading for pleasure and enjoying words. He has produced resources for the National Literacy Trust.
