Jon Lawrence

Welshman Jon Lawrence is an author, poet, playwright and musician who has been entertaining and educating learners of ALL ages for the last five years. His work has seen him travel as far afield as New Zealand. Having worked as a university lecturer, he now works part-time as a creative writing teacher

Having written four novels, four novellas, a full-length play, eight children’s musicals for schools, two illustrated children’s songbooks and travel book about his adventures travelling five deserts on five continents for charity, Jon is able to tailor his talks to all audiences.

His novella Silence and Songbirds is aimed at Key Stage 3 readers, while his illustrated Music Man’s Songbooks bring joy and laughter to children in pre-school and Key Stage 1. His funny and thought-provoking poetry, storytelling and songwriting skills have been a hit with Key Stage 2 learners. Indeed Jon (a professional musician for many years) incorporates music into all of his primary school work.

Jon’s work has been recognised by OFSTED inspectors and external agencies who considered his lessons ‘outstanding’ and ‘inspirational’. His novels have received plaudits from Amazon readers, fellow authors and press alike.

He has worked with children as young as three, all the way through to adult learners and holds a degree and master’s degree, as well as a teaching qualification.

Jon is particularly keen to visit schools in remote and rural communities who rarely have opportunities for author visits.
