Brian Abram

Brian Abram storyteller

Statement

I’m a paralysed, full-time wheelchair user known as ‘Grandad Wheels’ - the name given to me by my Grandson Charlie when he was very little. I’ve written and published six illustrated children’s books ’The Adventures of Grandad Wheels!’ My stories are all about the crazy adventures we have together.

Sir Quentin Blake said of my first book “It’s an impressive piece of work…”

I visit Primary schools all over the north of England to entertain and raise their awareness about disability in a FUN way. I read stories, answer questions and challenge the kids to design a bonkers, crazy new wheelchair for Grandad! I also do ‘virtual visits’ across the UK and beyond.

“We LOVED your visit. Thanks for teaching us and making us laugh!”

Joe Dryland, HT Kirkham St Michael’s School

"A visit from Grandad Wheels should be a compulsory part of the curriculum."

Rachel Purves, William Rhodes Primary
