Young People's Self-Perceptions as Readers (2008)

Added 05 Nov 2008 | Updated 27 Jul 17

Read about our survey on the self-perceptions of young people as readers. We explore to what extent young people see themselves as readers? What does it mean to be a reader? What are the characteristics typically assigned to readers and what materials does a reader enjoy? And how do readers and non-readers differ in their perception of these?

Over 1,600 pupils from 29 schools participated in our online survey in April 2007 that addressed those questions.

Detailed findings on the topic are also available for gender and age in separate reports.
