Writing for Enjoyment and its Link to Wider Writing - Findings from our Annual Literacy Survey 2016 Report

Added 21 Jun 2017 | Updated 21 Sep 17

Over half the children and young people in 2016 said that they enjoy writing either very much or quite a lot, which is the highest level since our first survey of children and young people in 2010.

Read more about children’s and young people’s enjoyment of writing in 2016, taken from our seventh annual literacy survey that we conducted in November/December 2016. 39,411 pupils aged eight to 18 participated.

The report outlines how many children and young people enjoy writing and how this has changed over the year. In addition are insights into who the children and young people are who enjoy writing and how enjoyment of writing is linked with writing behaviour, confidence, motivation and attainment.
