This CPD focuses on the foundational phonics and early reading knowledge that some secondary pupils still require to read fluently. You will be introduced to the core phonic principles that underpin confident reading, alongside practical guidance for adapting your teaching to make appropriate instructional responses. Activities are designed to link phonics knowledge to disciplinary literacy, illustrating how secure decoding supports the subject-specific reading demands in all subjects.
Optional extra: After the 60-minute training, stay for an optional 30-minute spotlight surgery. This is your chance to ask specific questions and get tailored support for your classroom.
