As part of the National Year of Reading offer for early years, this webinar supports early years practitioners and childminders to guide their children through an area that can sometimes feel less familiar- poetry.

What to expect:

It will give practitioners fresh inspiration for bringing poetry, performance and playful language into their everyday practice, helping to build their own confidence with poetry which in turn strengthens children’s confidence too. A visiting poet will also share live examples and lead simple, relatable activities that practitioners can take straight back into their settings.

The session will focus upon how playful language encourages children to experiment with words and sounds, helping them build confidence in both reading and writing. It will explore the role of poetry in supporting emotional expression and well‑being for children and adults, and share practical, relatable poetry and language activities that practitioners can take away and use immediately in their own settings
