About the event
Football is well known for bringing people together across different backgrounds. What if we told you poetry can too?
The National Literacy Trust and Premier League Primary Stars are excited to invite you to meet award-winning poet Joseph Coelho alongside CBBC presenter Lauren Layfield to explore the theme of diversity and how it can be celebrated through poetry.
Join us on Tuesday 9 December 9.30am-10.15am for a free, inspiring online workshop that connects football and literacy by using the No Room for Racism campaign as a lens for pupils to reflect on how football brings people together and to create their own poetry celebrating that greatness comes from everywhere. This online workshop will help pupils to begin planning and writing their own poems using some fantastic free resources!
Before the event
- Register below for the event.
- Download (and ideally print) the Premier League Primary Stars resources for this event. We recommending printing the 'Diversity and Me' worksheet for use during the workshop and the 'Writing Sheet' for use after.
- If possible, complete the challenge and share with @literacy_trust and @PLCommunities on socials.
- Send any questions for Joseph to sport@literacytrust.org.uk and we will answer as many as we can on the day.
