John Lewis have donated five literacy toolkits to primary schools in Peterborough. The toolkits contain tailored selection of items to inspire primary school children to read.
The schools receiving the toolkits are The Beeches Primary School, Paston Ridings Primary School, Brewster Avenue Infant & Nursery School, Orton St John's Church School and Winyates Primary School.
The toolkits will be delivered to the schools in January, and representatives from each will be invited to a special presentation event in store. Christine Hutchins, Partner & Community Liaison Co-ordinator at John Lewis, presented the cheque to Darranda Rowswell, National Literacy Trust Development Director.
Each toolkit contains:
- A fantastic range of 50 books for children and young people to inspire reading
- Guidance and templates to help schools engage parents and their local community
- Fun activity sheets and other information to use in classrooms and send home
- Access to National Literacy Trust membership, which offers expert literacy support and resources, for a local school for one year
