What's on in Camborne and Redruth
Celebrate World Nursery Rhyme Week 2025
Monday 10 November to Friday 14 November 2025
Singing songs and rhymes with little ones helps build their language and communication skills from the start. Songs and rhymes can be quiet and gentle or fun and silly. It's not about being perfect; your little one will love the time with you.
This World Nursery Rhyme Week at the National Literacy Trust in Cornwall, we are hosting and attending free events for 0 to 5s in Camborne and Redruth every day between 10-14 November. See on our interactive map where you can join us for nursery rhymes, songs and rhyming stories.
You'll also take home your own free copy of our Sing With Me booklet, full of simple, expert tips to help your little one get the most out of the songs you sing together.
No booking required for these events, just turn up.

Why is singing songs and nursery rhymes important?
Singing songs and nursery rhymes can support your child's development in a number of ways. The rhythm, rhyme and repetition helps them recognise familiar sounds – the first building blocks of language. The time together supports their bond with you and the actions develop their muscles and coordination and helps babies join in before they can talk.
Are you feeling nervous?
What if you feel nervous singing out loud? Maybe you don't know all the words? Are you worried that you'll mess up the songs?
Don't worry!
The shared experience is what brings benefits for your child – in every back-and-forth interaction and all the smiles and giggles. The tune, lyrics and how it sounds isn’t important!
