The Black Country

RS3752_189 First Words Together Summer Party - Lakeside Centre

Our work in the Black Country spans Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton. The campaign aims to inspire families across the Black Country to read together, and helps parents to support their children’s literacy skills.

Our activities will support families and young children to gain the literacy skills they need to succeed in life. If you would like to get involved please email blackcountry@literacytrust.org.uk.

A royal celebration

Wolverhampton nurse waves the flag for literacy at Clarence House reception with The Queen.

"...It is so lovely to meet a person in a high position who shares the same love for books and understands the need to assess books to aid learning, growing, knowledge and achievement in life."
Joy Hamilton, Nurse at Walsall Manor Hospital and Literacy Champion volunteer.
