Thank you for signing up to be part of the Our Stories primary reading project, and welcome to your dedicated participants' page.
This exciting new pilot is delivered by the National Literacy Trust’s Our Stories Literacy Hub in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey.
We're really excited to begin working with you to further support a holistic, whole school approach to developing a life-long love of reading; harnessing support and coordinating contributions from teachers, school library services, parents and children and young people themselves.
On this page you’ll find a range of links to important paperwork, training materials and resources which will support you both in preparation for training and during the lifespan of your involvement in the project.
We'll continue to add to these pages over the coming months.
Actions to complete before the project starts
Please complete the pre-survey before beginning the online training. It's been designed to capture the extent of any initiatives currently delivered in your school which promote a love of reading as well as providing us with a baseline to evaluate the impact of the programme overall.
2) Online training
Access the online training, which must be completed before attending the face-to-face training day on Tuesday 7 May 2019. We'll send further information about the event soon. Please read the login instructions before you access the online course.
The online training includes sections on:
- the importance of reading for pleasure
- involving the whole school in reading initiatives
- setting up and maintaining your library
- choosing books.
It usually takes about 2 hours to complete and you can share it with as many colleagues as you like.
