Isn’t it fantastic when a friend recommends a really good book to you that you both really enjoy and can chat about for hours? What if this act of sharing stories help to raise money for the National Literacy Trust?
It’s National Storytelling Week, which is a weeklong celebration of the magic of sharing stories, and this week, we are delighted to launch a new fundraising campaign which encourages everyone to share their favourite books on social media and help raise awareness and vital funds for our charity’s work.
Follow The Reader is an interactive, social media activity for Instagram stories and Twitter that invites everyone to recommend 1 book, tag 2 friends and then donate £3 to our charity.
Just remember: share 1, tag 2 and donate 3!
We know that this continues to be an uncertain time for everyone. Reading can be a fantastic way to support your wellbeing and by getting involved in Follow the Reader, you’ll be opening your friends and family’s eyes to books you enjoy and get to see which books they particularly love too.
How to get involved on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook:
If you are using Instagram stories, simply use the template to share your book recommendation and tag your friends, and once you’ve posted it, share the blank template on your story too so your tagged friends can use it next.
If you are using Twitter or Facebook, simply write out your book recommendation and tag your friends in your post and publish this alongside the banner we have created specially with the instructions for the next person.
Don’t forget to Tag @Literacy_Trust and use #FollowTheReader
How to donate:
COVID-19 has had a disastrous impact on the literacy and life chances of the UK’s most disadvantaged communities. We need your help to give literacy support to those who need it most, so they have the skills to succeed in life.
