Literacy for Humanities - North London

Literacy for Humanities is a three-hour workshop designed to help teachers embed appropriate subject-specific language and to encourage pupils to adopt a more formalised academic register.

Objectives:

  • Identify research-based approaches to developing literacy in humanities
  • Understand the role of vocabulary acquisition and academic language in improving literacy
  • Understand the importance of the shift from informal talk, through exploratory talk, to formal writing, in humanities
  • Understand some distinctive language features of written texts in humanities

Cost and times:

4 March - 2pm-5pm

£125 for the first delegate and £75 per additional delegate.
Those with full National Literacy Trust membership are entitled to a £25 discount per booking.
